War in Ukraine. Ceasefire: Moscow's conditions expected "in a few days"

When he hung up with Vladimir Putin on Monday, Donald Trump said "immediately." US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that he expected Russia to present its terms for a ceasefire in Ukraine "in a few days," while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of "buying time."
"At some point, fairly quickly, perhaps in a few days, perhaps this week, the Russian side will present the terms that it would like to see" to move toward a ceasefire, the secretary of state told a Senate committee.
"Not the slightest concessionThe Russians will offer "general conditions that would allow us to move towards a ceasefire" which "would then allow us to begin detailed negotiations to end the conflict," Marco Rubio added.
Before another Senate committee, the head of American diplomacy had assured earlier Tuesday that his country had not made "the slightest concession" to Moscow. According to him, President Trump chose not to "threaten sanctions" against the Russians because "they will stop talking, and it is useful for us to be able to talk to them and push them to come to the negotiating table."
In the absence of a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky , Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Kursk region on Tuesday, which borders Ukraine and which Russia announced the liberation of by Ukrainian forces at the end of April, the Kremlin said on Wednesday.
Russia claimed at the end of April that it had completely retaken, with the help of North Korean fighters, the Kursk region, which Ukrainian forces had entered in August 2024. A Russian attack also killed six Ukrainian soldiers on Tuesday and wounded more than ten others, the Ukrainian National Guard announced on Wednesday.
